Where to Take Your Wedding Photos in Montreal and Laval? (2026 Edition)

The Best Places for Stunning Wedding Photos in Montreal and the Surrounding Area

Planning a wedding in the Greater Montreal area comes with one incredible advantage: the diversity of settings. Whether your vision is rooted in timeless romance, urban modernity, or the tranquility of nature, choosing the right location for your couple photos is crucial.

As a wedding photographer in Montreal and Laval, I've had the privilege of documenting love stories in a wide variety of settings. Here is my selection of the best locations for capturing images that are elegant, dynamic, and truly representative of your relationship.

1. Old Montreal: Timeless European Elegance

It’s a classic destination—and for good reason. The cobblestone streets, historic stone architecture, and proximity to the water create a backdrop of rare elegance reminiscent of Europe’s most beautiful cities.

  • The style: Romantic, chic, editorial.

  • My favorite spots: Around the Notre-Dame Basilica, the Rue des Fortifications (for the beautiful, soft light in the afternoon), or along the Quai de l'Horloge at sunset.

  • Pro tip: Old Montreal gets very crowded on summer Saturdays. For a more intimate session without any photobombs, I highly recommend scheduling your engagement photo shoot in the morning or planning it for a weekday.

2. The Laval Nature Center: An Oasis of Greenery

For couples living on the North Shore who want to avoid downtown traffic, the Laval Nature Center is an exceptional place to explore.

  • Style: Natural, romantic, floral.

  • What makes it unique: Diversity all in one place. It features carefully tended flower gardens, wooded trails, a large lake, and even a tropical greenhouse. It’s the perfect spot for soft, bright, and minimalist photos.

  • Pro tip: Admission is free, but non-residents of Laval must pay for parking. This is an important detail to mention to your wedding party or guests if you plan to take group photos there.

3. Victoria Square and the International Quarter: A Modern, Editorial Touch

If you prefer a contemporary aesthetic straight out of a fashion magazine, Montreal's modern architecture offers incredible graphic textures.

  • Style: Urban, modern, haute couture.

  • Visual details: The Convention Center, with its multicolored glass panels, creates unique reflections. Right next to it, the clean lines and skyscrapers of the International District offer a striking contrast to the softness of a wedding dress.

  • Pro tip: This setting is perfect for cloudier days, because the tall buildings act as giant reflectors, casting soft, even light on people's faces.

4. The Waterfront and Green Spaces of the North Shore

If your wedding is taking place near Vaudreuil, Terrebonne, or Mirabel, there’s no need to drive all the way to Montreal to find beautiful venues. Old Terrebonne or the waterfront parks in Vaudreuil-Dorion offer a historic and peaceful atmosphere, perfect for taking a breath and enjoying the moment.

How do you choose the perfect venue for YOUR big day?

1. Logistics First and Foremost

On your wedding day, time flies by in a flash. Choose a photo shoot location that’s no more than 15–20 minutes away from your ceremony or reception venue. The less time you spend in traffic, the more time you’ll have in front of the camera (and enjoying time with your guests!).

2. Have a Plan B (Weather)

The weather in Quebec can be unpredictable at times. If you choose a park, make sure you have a covered alternative or an indoor space nearby (such as the World Trade Center or a nice café) in case of a sudden downpour.

3. Stay true to your style

Your choice of venue should reflect your personality. If you're a laid-back couple who loves nature, a concrete alleyway won't do you justice. Trust yourselves!
